The challenge

Simmondley Medical Practice is a busy GP surgery with a constantly growing demand. As such, they reached a point where they required additional facilities to continue to meet the needs of the community. But they couldn't shut down the surgery solely for this extension. This high-specification work had to be done as it was operating, without disrupting their commitments, staff, or patients.

The solution

Building Projects Group was chosen as the principal contractor because of our experience in high-care environments. We used our expertise of operating in live environments to ensure the surgery's work wasn't impeded on in any way. All while keeping existing facilities safe. We constructed the entire extension and fit-out with the necessary mechanical and electrical systems needed.

The benefits

The project was completed on time, to a tight schedule of just twelve weeks. We successfully managed this through exact planning of the project, introducing a temporary entrance and sealed partitions while all main water, gas, and medical gases were installed for the extension. Great care had to be taken for deliveries and major works, for example installing the roofing, which were completed out of hours.

Simmondley Medical Practice now boasts new facilities, including a study room, counselling room, doctor's examination room, and conference and filing room, further extending the services available in the community.
