The challenge

Woodlands Care Centre, an elderly nursing home in Macclesfield, was in need of an extension to provide extra bedrooms due to increased demand. Operating in such an environment meant we had to take great care in our approach. There were residents to consider, along with nursing and other staff.

The solution

With any high-care project, we employ our own strict high care environment charter. This ensures we minimise risk to residents and staff, with no dust or debris from the major building works entering the rest of the facility. Our priority throughout was guaranteeing we didn't affect the lives of the residents.

That's something we're proud to have achieved, even as we carried out some heavy-duty work. Demolition, brand new construction, heating and electrical infrastructure, and even landscaping were all part of this large project. And all of it was completed without disrupting anyone.

The benefits

The project was finished on schedule, within budget, and over and above the client's expectations. They were particularly impressed by the standard of planning and scheduled works to ensure there was little disruption to the original care home. The result is a high-specification extension that blends in well with the original care home building, providing the extra space and beds they required. To say the client was delighted is an understatement.
