Paper manufacturer Tann UK was in need of a new chemical storage bund for their Glossop operations. There were numerous challenges with the project due to the location of the proposed site. It meant some issues needed resolving prior to work commencing. The key one being its location on a floodplain, along with various underground services and live chemical lines that could impact on the works.

Before starting, a pre-excavation CAT scan was undertaken to locate the existing services. This allowed us to avoid any potential problems and plan accordingly. From there, we could excavate and start laying the foundations for the bund. This included a portal frame structure to suit the environmental requirements.

Specific site demarcation had to be imposed due to the close proximity of the client’s working operations. Building Projects Group implemented a health and safety project plan, ensuring all works were clearly communicated and managed with the client’s operations.

Tann UK was delighted with the finished project. We made sure to complete the project on time and to budget, and the storage bund is now in full operation. Our pre-excavation scans and prior planning was essential to the smooth running of the project, something which the client greatly appreciated.
