The challenge

Synergy Health is the leading provider of specialist outsourced services to healthcare providers. They run Tameside Hospital NHS Trust's sterile service processing facilities, and as part of a capital investment programme to match their growth, they needed to upgrade their sterilisation facility based within the Tameside hospital. It was a highly specialised project that required extensive experience of working in a sector as strict as this one.

The solution

The works involved the upgrading of approximately 30% of the production units based on the second floor within Tameside hospital. Because of the complexity of the requirements and the lead-in time of suppliers of the new equipment, we were involved in the early stages of planning the programme.

We created a detailed plan which incorporated the creation of working areas to eliminate any escape of particles into the live environment. Other considerations included draining and decontamination of existing plant and the successful installation and commissioning of new machinery.

The benefits

The clients were delighted with the completed project, which was finished on time and within budget. In particular, they were happy that the production facilities were upgraded without disruption to the normal hospital working environment. This was all down to our prior planning and flawless execution.
